Welcome To My Home...
September 5, 2002Thank You Presto Studios! Sadly, it has just been announced that Presto Studios, one of the greatest game developers of our time, is shutting down. To: presto@presto.com Cc: Subject: Thank You Presto Studios! Date: Thu, 05 Sep 2002 18:35:52 -0500 Dear Presto Studios, You may not remember me, but I certainly will never forget Presto Studios or any of the incredible people who worked there. Four years ago, I knew close to nothing about computers - just barely enough to install and play a couple games. I was in eighth grade at the time, and my class was required to shadow a job for career day. The previous month, an article about Legacy of Time had appeared in the local newspaper, and my dad suggested I look into visiting Presto Studios. Through some great luck (and probably the persistence of my friend, Victor, who also wanted to visit Presto), I received a very friendly invitation to spend a day there. That one day changed my life. I instantly fell in love with Presto Studios and the people who worked there. Everyone seemed to have a great time working there, making for a very fun environment. I became fascinated with the different aspects of making a computer game. From the concepts to the modeling and animation processes; I knew I wanted to learn more. I am now attending CSU Fullerton with the goal of earning a major in computer animation. My ultimate dream, from the day you welcomed me to your workplace four years ago, is to work to develop computer games with such wonderful people as yourselves. Reading the recent news of Presto's shut-down literally devastated me. I have been a huge fan of every Presto title I have played including the Journeyman Project Trilogy and, of course, Myst III. The idea that such a great company will no longer be around left me almost unable to respond. I don't believe I had ever truly thanked the people at Presto Studios for their extreme kindness and enthusiasm in welcoming me for career day, and so I write this letter now, four years after it should have been delivered. Hopefully this message will have a chance to reach everyone at Presto who means so much to me. Thank you for over ten years of great games. Thank you for inviting me for a day that I will never forget. And thank you for being the great people you are! I wish the best of luck to all of you! Thank you, Presto Studios! You have changed my life. Sincerely, Raymond F http://www.funfolly.com/rfhome ![]()
September 5, 2002Let's just try... Let's just try to keep the memory alive shall we? It's been a sleeper since the very beginning, but when it got noticed, it shined. Those shrink wrapped games of mine all of a sudden have become very very important. If you happen to see their other stuff around in the stores, you might want to pick it up. But on the upside, the talent will simply disperse... we'll check up on the guys, I'm sure they'd find their way into another good game company without a hitch. -Victor
September 12, 2002An Update Susan Weyer, from Presto Studios, did respond. She was very touched by my e-mail and believes it will bring inspiration to the whole Presto team. If you were wondering, however, I will not post her response here; I will never post any personal message on my website without known consent. ![]() |
