	Welcome To My Home... September 12, 2002 The Windows eXPerience I haven't really said anything about my computer. It's wonderful. I could elaborate on this, but I'm afraid that would make for a painfully boring read. So I'll just leave it at that: It's wonderful. I love my computer. With that said, however, it does have its quirks and minor problems, as you would expect with any computer. Windows XP has this wonderful "safety" feature which prevents you from shutting down your computer improperly. When you press the power button on the computer, it acts as if you selected "Shut Down" from the Start Menu, automatically running it's shut down sequence and closing out all the proper programs before turning off the computer. What this means in terms of practical application is that if your computer freezes during the shutdown process, you're screwed. I've twice had to climb behind my desk and shut off the surge protector just to restart my computer. It seems, also, that Windows XP is not completely backwards compatable with previous releases, as it will not install my Windows 95 printer (This is a major annoyance). Nor will it run several of my DOS based programs that had no problems on other computers. Notably some of my freeware files like Jump 'n Bump and Liero. Now, I don't know how essential Jump 'n Bump really is for everyday living, but I'd like to be able to play it once in a while. Comments September 12, 2002 Incoming I'm coming home tomorrow (Friday); I should arrive by about 2:00. The plan is to have some sort of a Birthday celebration gathering at my uncle's house with some friends. But right now, it's looking like I could just be hanging out with my uncle, since nobody (yes, I'm talking to both of you) has emailed me to give me any indication of his availability. I'll need to call people when I get home. But that's okay; I love phones. Oh! And if Mom's reading this, I want to fry twinkies! September 12, 2002 Thought It Was... Thought it was kinda assumed that I would go unless I said otherwise. Eh, whatever, I'll be there. Only hold is that I get off work at 4. I might be able to grab the car for the day and go straight to your uncle's however... September 12, 2002 Addendum to Afformentioned Problems It appears, also, that I now cannot view any Quicktime videos. Well, that's not entirely true - I've been able to get one of them to work. The others seem to eat CPU resources like nothing else and freeze the computer. Darn Mac stuff. And Windows stuff. I think they're both conspiring against us. Of course, if knowledgable people are reading, I do graciously accept any help for problems that I may mention through the course of my posting. September 13, 2002 This Comment Thingie Ah, this comment thingie is pretty nifty. Doesn't look like i am very free for the weekend unfortunately. Mom wants me to be here to do errand type stuff since weekends are the only time she's off anymore. Sorry. I'll call u if things change though.
