Welcome To My Home...
October 13, 2002Your Vote Counts! I know as well as anybody how insignificant the opinion of a single person can seem. In such a vastly overpopulated world, one person's voice seems to be drowned and lost in the crowds. For this reason, many people take on an attitude of apathy towards voting. I am warning you against this and telling you to care. Sure. It may not seem that a single person's vote has the power to make life-altering changes to this world, but remember that the final result is nothing more than a collection of individual votes. Individual votes like yours. Together, we can make a difference. Only Together do we have enough influence to bring about changes that will affect our nation's future. Changes that affect you and me. Only together can our voices be heard by the authorities that make decisions for the top issues in this country. That's right. Only together can we help ensure that Myst 3 is released on DVD. So head on over to the website and VOTE! "If Myst III: Exile were released on DVD, would you buy it?" YES! Tell your friends to vote. Tell your family and relatives. Vote from every computer to which you have access. Vote for YES (as devious as this may sound) even if you have no intention of ever buying the DVD. Do it for all the Myst fans who have long since given up hope for a DVD. Do it to show UbiSoft that they were fools to keep the truest Myst fans waiting as they indiscriminantly postponed this promised release to no end. Do it for me if for nothing else. Please? Right. Now that the important stuff is out of the way, I thought I'd mention that we've also got some general elections coming up, if you weren't aware. You should probably vote in those, too. In fact, President George W. Bush called me personally just the other day to stress the importance of voting. Actually, to be more accurate, President Bush's voice recording called me. This is something they should probably mention at the start of the phone call. Just a little message like "The following is a pre-recorded message" would suffice. I mean, you pick up the phone. "Hello?" And you hear: "Hello. This is President George W. Bush." It's like "Holy crap! I swear I didn't download any of that stuff! ...oh. You're a recording." Anyway, Kimberly's standing right next to me when "he" calls, and I try my best to seem intensly interested. She, of course, assumes that one of her friends is on the other end and impatiently nags me: "Well, who is it?" "Shhhhh! It's the president!" ![]()
October 14, 2002This is Halloween It is coming. And it's coming fast. I would still like to make a haunted garage. It is wholly and completely in our ability to make a haunted garage. The problem is that I am the only one who thinks so. It is clear that nobody really understands how important this has become to me. Instead of trying to help come up with ways to make a haunt possible for this year (which is, admittedly, the most difficult), everbody just instantly dismisses the whole project. That is, I will remind you, the attitude that almost kept our 2000 haunt on the drawing boards. That is the attitude that nearly killed our 2001 haunt when we encountered unforeseen obstacles. I am painfully aware of how late in the season it is. But instead of thinking "We're too late", I ask myself "How can we do this more efficiently?" Know that I can't do this alone. If you won't help me, that is your decision. But don't waste any effort making excuses for yourself. That almost got commented out. I don't mean to attack anybody, and I know it is unrealistic for me to expect anyone else to share my extreme dedication to the project, especially this late in the season. It's just that these haunts have become immensely important to me, and giving up even just this one year pains me more than I can expect you to understand. In any case, we've got a bunch of events to get sorted out. The way it works is that the TSU sells Knott's tickets for a specific date. The weekends sell out about a week in advance. If we're talking about next week, that's now. So I need to know what tickets to buy and how many as soon as possible. The haunt goes from 7:00pm-2:00am on Friday and Saturday, and 7:00pm-1:00am every other day. That means that any day is possible for me, but Fridays and Saturdays are obviously best because of morning classes. There are two weekends left in October, and the haunt is open the first Friday/Saturday of November (from 7:00pm-1:00am). If we go to Knott's on a Sunday when I'm at home, we'd need to take two cars, so I could just stay up here afterwards. That's what would happen if we go this Sunday. Otherwise, I'd probably meet you here at CSUF and go from there. My scheduele is very flexible. I'm most likely going to Sea World next Friday. If not, then I will be going the Friday after that. I would like to go the MCHS band tournament Saturday, October 26. (By the way, it'd be even cooler if someone wants to come with me, so let me know that's you, and we can get tickets for seats next to each other). Those will be sold out by that day, so Kimberly needs to buy me/us tickets in advance - before Friday. I believe they're something like 5-8 dollars. Email me soon. I need to know, first of all, if you're going (Shawn!). I need to know what dates you cannot go and what dates are best. I need to know if I need to buy you a ticket (See below for prices). And I need to know this soon, so I can choose a date, verify it with you, and buy the tickets before they sell out. So, in summary, Email me! ![]()
October 14, 2002My Somewhat Significant Error I really have no clue what the heck I was looking at the last time I checked the price boards, but I have been significantly misguided as to the discounted price of Knott's Scary Farm tickets. It varies depending on the day, (from this point) from $27-$35. Tuesday/Wednesday the 29/30th are $27. Saturday (19th) and Friday (25th) are $35. Every other day is $32. Sorry for the mistake. Let me know if you're still in. ![]()
October 14, 2002If there's gonna be someone... If there's gonna be someone else who is as enthusiastic as you about building haunted houses; it's probably me. Two extremely rewarding experiences is more than enough to prove to me it's worth the effort. Just maybe not this year. or the next. or the next. *sigh* or the next. Okay. So it's plausible... but we need more time. We started a week or so in advance last time, and that was working almost every day. Now, we get two days each week... aka, we should have started last week. And even working every day that week last year was a crunch. As for Knott's Scary Farm, best to give me a ring. I don't really plan that far ahead, but I'll see what I can do with whatever dates you give me. And just to get into the halloween mood: -Victor
October 14, 2002Yet Another Correction Although I can't take the full blame for this one. The band tournament is on Saturday the 26th. That's the Saturday before Halloween. (Not next Saturday, as I originally posted). ![]() |
