Welcome To My Home...
November 1, 2002Change of Plans Every once in a while, I find myself in a hideously bad mood, and I end up writing something so exceedingly negative that it tears at the very soul of human existence, causing, I would assume, widespread terror, anger, and depression should it ever be unleashed upon the common public. Then, after wandering through the arboretum for a while or eating a cookie, those frightful demons that had possessed my writing eventually get bored with me and fly off to infect their next victim (who, in all likeliness, is Eminem). Upon, then, returning to actually upload the mess, I stare in shocked disbelief at the horrible things the bad-mood demons made me write, and I delete it on the spot. Things may not, however, always go so smoothly. In fact, I'm certain that one day the innevitable will happen, and I'll proudly announce my hatred for the entire world and its inhabitants, viciously attacking the unfortunate soul who happens to be reading my site at the time. Consider this a forewarning, of sorts. If one of these jewels of my mind ever does manage to slip through my better judgement and self control, don't take it too personally. The demons made me do it. Anyway, I had a particularly juicy entry for you all ready and written, concerning, among other things, my express desire to continue my Halloween haunt tradition next year. I would also still like to see Knott's Scary Farm sometime, so we should make plans for that early, when the time comes. I had actually planned to to say a bit more on the topic of Halloween haunts here, but it has been brought to my attention that such entries are not the makings of a great web journal, so, out of respect for my readers, I will refrain from doing so. Instead, I will discuss my frightfully eventful Halloween night. Actually, I had almost forgotten that it was Halloween until I read about Mike shamelessly eating kids' candy before they arrived. It was actually a bit dissapointing. Here it was, my favorite time of year, and I was less in the Halloween spirit than I usually am on any given day. I decided, then, to head over to the Titan 'Spooky' Union to see what kind of a deal they had set up over there. (I had also seen some posters with a most misleading implication of free food). I hung around the TSU for a while, and after decorating a mini pumpkin and walking through a 'haunt' that consisted almost entirely of inflated rubber gloves hanging from the ceiling (you think I'm making this up, don't you?), I had the option to do one of two things: head back to the dorms and work on my history term paper, or wander over to the TSU Theater for the 'Double Feature of Doom.' Thus, I headed to my doom, which came, incidentally, in the form of Cannible: The Musical and Dead Alive. If you have never seen either of these features, I will give you a brief overview. Cannible was pretty stupid (a given), but mildy entertaining if you were expecting something even stupider. Dead Alive is a flick about hordes of man-eating zombies, and it is easily the goriest movie I've seen to date. I have little to compare these to, though, as I've seen maybe three horror movies in my life, but I tend to prefer the more refined, suspensful approach as in Resident Evil than the almost comical up-front gore presented in Dead Alive. ![]()
November 1, 2002For the record... Shamelessly? For the record, there was plenty of candy left for the kids. I was simply making sure it tasted fine. Wasn't Dead Alive directed by the guy who did Lord of the Rings?? -Mike
November 1, 2002Actually, Yes Yes, it was. Peter Jackson, I believe. Somewhat of a different style, though... On a different note, I'm coming home again this weekend. Whee! ![]()
November 1, 2002Dude, it's my brother... Dude, it's my brother. He could care less about what you write and he certainly doesn't check your site. Don't let something like that stop you. Anyway, yeah, I'm sittin' here doing nothing but repetitive graphics work and listening to music while trying to avoid detection by the local RSO. Looks like this night is gonna tank. I was exactly the same way, I didn't know it was Halloween until my chem teacher this morning did a redox reaction turning a clear solution orange and revealing a hidden pumkin face drawn on the flask. What a way to find out it's halloween. Anyway, all the activities planned for Halloween on the entire campus sucked so bad... there was literally no one there. Everyone headed over to UCSB for their insane Halloween parties. Oh well, at least I don't have to hand out candy to ungrateful children who go through the haunted house AGAIN or teenagers who go through it while on their cell phones : P -Victor
November 1, 2002Seems like... Seems like you had a somewut better halloween than me. I took at chem midterm on halloween night. Then i had to study fro a calculus midterm 9am the next day. Candy? Mike!! Share the Wealth!!! I didnt get any candy on Halloween!! -Jonathan
November 1, 2002No candy Jon? No candy Jon? How sad. Hey, i've still got plenty here. Stop by sometime and you can have some!! Hurry before its all gone! -Mike
November 1, 2002Pimus Hey Mike. That one took me a second. I see you're using your UCSD account, now. I'd never seen that address before, and I'm like, "Who the heck is Pimus?" On movies and stuff: Kimberly said The Ring "wasn't scary." But that doesn't say much, since we all know she doesn't scare easily. Maybe everyone else is wrong. It could be another Blair Witch phenomenon. Nightmare Before Christmas came out in 1993. That was before I got all weird and creepy, and at the time, I considered it to have been a waste of my time. Now I love the thing in all its twisted glory. Go figure. Alias was good again last week. They must have the writers taking turns or something because every time I'm about to stop watching that show, someone does something right and I think that just maybe the series will continue with the promise shown in its premier episode. And then they innevitably screw everything up again thinking that a cliffhanger is an acceptable alternative to a decent storyline and plot structure. ![]()
November 2, 2002I direct your attention... May I please direct your attention to the post-halloween candy sales at your local VONS and Ralphs; all you can eat at half off or more! Best time of year to stock up so horde it now and you'll never have to feel bad about paying full price the next time you get the munchies! Like taking candy from a baby...uh.... who charges tax....*scratches head* -Victor |
