All right. Things are good.

First of all, take a look at my newest pride. That's right, folks. Got it free at the TSU showing of Attack of the Clones at the TSU Theater. When Jared won his Minority Report poster, he needed to answer a trivia question. I just needed to be there for this one. The credits rolled around, and I remained stuck in my chair, mesmerized by the brilliance behind the music I was enjoying while just about everyone else in the theater left. By the time he brought out the two posters to give away, there was just me and a group of four girls still there. That made the give-away process a bit easier, I imagine. And since, incidentally, the movie coordinator recognized that I had come to every single TSU feature, he gave me first pick. I knew I watched Cannibal: The Musical for a reason.

Now, that alone is certainly enough to shoot my mood through the roof. Any free movie poster is a great thing. One depicting an awesome movie I had just had the privilege of watching again for free at the TSU theater makes it even better. And that's just the frosting on the cake, if you'll pardon the use of an expression that I personally hate.

You see, even before my acquisition of a new Star Wars poster, there was free food involved. Learn about dating violence and have a Del Taco dinner in the MPR, the posters said. Now, I'm all over free food in any normal circumstances, and these circumstances were of the special kind. My goal is to make it until Turkey Break without needing to go to the grocery store. Things working against me are the facts that I have exhausted my supply of bread, cheese, and chicken. Additionally, the last time I went to the store, I thought I'd be adventurous and try a different brand of frozen taquitos. I'll let you all know right now, in all circumstances, DeliMex makes frozen taquitos that are far superior to those produced by Las Campanas. In fact, I'd venture to say that some brands of pre-processed cat food are superior to Las Campanas frozen taquitos. And, of course I bought two huge boxes of the atrocities, because by doing so, I believe I saved about a buck-eighty. That leaves me now with a variety of dining options: crap taquitos and minute white rice. Thus, any free food opportunities jump to the top of my list of priorities, and I was more than happy to participate in whatever dating violence activity our fun-loving RA's had put together.

Now, before I continue, I need to tell you about this speaker critique assignment for my speech communications class. The deal is, we need to go to a presentation or lecture by a speaker outside of the classroom. I had planned to go to the police chief's lecture informing about the ever-increasing threat of identity theft and teaching how to steal somebody's identity... er... I mean, teaching how bad people might steal another person's identity so us good people can prevent it. Unfortunately, it turned out that I had the dates all mixed up that week, and I ended up going to the lecture hall the day after it had occurred. If you think that's embarrassing, imagine how I felt the next day when I did the same thing again for a different lecture. This whole mess just added to my quasi-depression last week, which I somewhat 'forgot' to mention on my site. The real problem, as I saw it, was that there were only two other lectures on campus before the due-date of my speaker critique. One of them was almost eliminated by default because it fell directly between two classes, and thus the timing of the speaker would need to be unfathomably convenient. It was not completely eliminated, however, based on the nature of my second option. The only speech I could attend was one sponsored by the Women's Center discussing how to reach and maintain one's desired weight. This was offered as a "part of the Women's Center lecture series." As much fun as it would have been to sit in on such a meeting, I fear I would have felt terribly out of place.

(Hang on to your seats, now. This is where everything ties together). As fate would have it, the dating violence activities turned out to actually be a formal lecture. Since finding a lecture for my speaker critique was the number one thing on my mind at the time, this small fact gave me immeasurable delight. I listened with intense interest as she described the communication barriers between guys and girls and all that good stuff. Immediately afterwards, I enjoyed a good helping of complimentary Del Taco cuisine. Then I left for Attack of the Clones where I gratefully secured my now prized poster.

But here's the kicker: I almost always go to the early movie showing as opposed to the 9:00. I had planned to this week, as well. However, I hadn't really eaten anything all day since I never felt much like heating up any of those horrid things that Las Campanas jokingly calls taquitos. Thus, I decided to skip the six o'clock and grab a free taco before the later showing - only after which, any posters ASI might have are given away.

I got a free dinner, a free movie, and a free poster, and I no longer needed to go to the Women's Club weight loss meeting - all of this essentially because I had bought the wrong brand of taquitos.

Things couldn't possibly get any better... could they? This morning, Dr. Myers handed back our history term paper drafts. So at 9:00 in the morning (a very early time for us college students), I was greeted by the opening statement of his evaluation: "Your text is outstanding!"

Computers are Evil
Bleh.
Here you go. What's he aiming to do? Win popular support? Sad thing is this will most likely be his entire defense case at trial.

I love these scientific studies. Now they're blaming computers for people's "reluctance to go out to work." Apparently the monitor emits harmful rays and stuff that makes you lethargic. And get this: the Japanese study also concluded that working at a monitor for an extended time may cause eye strain. Imagine that.

And For Victor's Roommate (that's right. I post with everyone's interests in mind), this should be a nice addition to your living space. (Now, wait just a second. I know what you're thinking, but no. You'd be surprised by some of the things I get linked to).

More Eye Candy!
I was so happy with how the sky turned out in my first painting that I decided to paint something that would expand on that. I also wanted to get some practice with detailing - something that I still need a bit of work on. But it's okay. I like the stylized, somewhat impressionistic look for now. Anyway, I've added another fine piece to the art section, so check it out. You may just be surprised. I suspect you all should recognize the original source material. Maybe I'll get creative enough to start drawing my own pictures, sometime.

Danke
Well, I'm currently at home at the moment, so I can't tell Walter quite yet, but I'm sure he'll be unimaginably grateful : ) I just hope he doesn't expect me to compile all of that into another damn wallpaper... I'm so sick of making Kristen Kreuk wallpapers. Knowing him, he'll probably go on over to ImPrints (aka Kinko's on campus) and get the whole thing printed out in a full color poster. If he does, I'll tell him to make two, just for you Mike ; ) Nice work on the second pic. Now, if you can draw me a picture of Aki... that would be cool (j/k) : P
