Welcome To My Home...
December 17, 2002Finally So, the semester is finally over... well, except for that one minor detail: finals. I took my math final today. That wasn't something I was exactly dreading, considering I had a 599/600 in the class before going into the test, but it was actually a bit harder than I had expected it to be. I'd be going through the problems, and every once in a while, I'd come to one that completely threw me off. It's like, "What the heck is this? Have I been sleeping through the entire semester?" Then I'd think, "Oh. Right." Luckily, I had more than enough time to figure out what the heck I was doing. It was kind of fun, actually. Deriving equations I couldn't remember; figuring out a problem through half a page of work and then remembering the short cut we'd learned; that kind of fun stuff that'd drive you mad if there was any sort of pressing time restriction. Like I said, though, no such restriction existed in this case, and in the end, (technically, about forty minutes before the end) I had managed to relearn all that stuff we were supposed to be paying attention to throughout the semester. Tomorrow is my history final. That one's a real doozy. The best way to study for my history professor's exams, I determined at the beginning of the semester, is with flash cards. This has worked wonderfully for the last two exams, where the relevent portions of the study guide amounted to maybe eighty flash cards. For the first exam, there were few enough that I even wrote them by hand. (Not that I had much of a choice, there, but it was still a managable task) If I had realized, for the final, that I'd be cutting out about two to three-hundred of the things, I probably would have chosen a different course of action. This fact did not seem to occur to me, however, until well into the process and past the point of no return. Anyway, I thought I'd write about that today, as well, because I sure as heck won't be wasting much time here tomorrow, what with all the Speech stuff I need to finish and my music final that I'm considering studying for. But, for now, I've got several hundred flash cards to go through and an essay to plan, so I'll leave you with that. ![]()
December 17, 2002Just wanted... Just wanted to let you all know that I'm DONE with finals!!! -Julie
December 18, 2002History's down I didn't bomb it. That leaves me with just my music final tomorrow. And of course, my take-home final for speech, and then I need to write a whole bunch of speech journal entries. Two of the prompts ask me to talk about how I feel about public speaking, what apprehensions I have, and how I felt about our last speech. Somehow, I feel like I've already been there. ![]()
December 18, 2002The Two Towers The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, as you are aware, ventured into theaters around midnight, last night. As you may have read over at Mike's tagboard, we are determining a time to see that. I am staunchly adamant about seeing the movie in an AMC theater. I have my reasons. Any showing starting before 1:00pm on Friday is possible, but not terribly convenient. Saturday, to the best of my knowledge, is good. If we are going early on Friday, it is imperative that I know before tomsorrow (Thursday), or I will not be able to make it. And once more for those who weren't paying attention or don't know what imperative means: if you don't tell me about Friday plans by tomorrow, I can't come. ![]()
December 18, 2002My Plans It's looking like we're seeing The Two Towers on Friday at 11:00am. My last final ends (officially) at 1:50pm tomorrow, but it'll probably be done about an hour before then. After that, I plan to go to Disneyland until closing at 10:00pm. Since I don't know what traffic is like southbound in the morning (and I have a suspicion that it's bad) I'm probably going to be driving down on Thursday night. I'm bringing my computer with me, and I will likely disconnect it before going to Disneyland. That means I'll be radio-silent for most of tomorrow, so if you have something you'd like to say before I'm out of here, be sure not to hesitate too long. Since, then, I will have no idea what the specific plans are for TTT somebody'd better call me Friday morning or come pick me up... or both. ![]()
