Excitement
I probably shouldn't use undetectable sarcasm in my titles like that. Sorry.

One of the things about having an excessively large hard drive (and, believe me, I'm not complaining, here) is that you never feel the need to actually delete anything. Everything you would normally cast into the recycle bin is now called 'backup.' I've got folders all over my computer full of 'backup' trash. Things like the first seven drafts of a Photoshop painting that I don't even like. Or an incomplete song that I don't know what it is, where it came from, or who it's by, but it's got a mildly interesting melody somewhere in it.

Then there are those times when I needed to use a CD-RW, and I happened upon one with some junk on it that I might have put there for backup sometime in the past. Since there could be important stuff on there, I can't just delete it. And, being a very busy person (stop laughing) I can't be bothered to check for such things on the spot. So I just load the whole thing onto my hard drive and end up with duplicate folders all over my computer.

That's the backstory.

Over the past 72 hours, I have been preparing my computer for a massive reformat - meaning I need to separate the stuff I don't care about from the stuff that I might, and then get it all organized nicely. Now, I'd like you to take a second to visualize, in your head, what my room at home normally looks like. Or better yet, take a glance at the stunning interior of my dorm room. Keeping that in mind, try to conceive what kind of organization might exist within my computer files. Yeah. (Just imagine the chaos if a person like that ever tried to maintain a website).

Cleaning out one computer is quite enough fun on its own. But for some reason, I decided to leave a bunch of my unsorted stuff on our family computer here. In effect, I have things spread across two different computers that I need to sort and burn (as in put on CD's - not expose to rapid oxidation) and determine which items are duplicates or not.

As I said, I've been at this for a while, and I am now nearing the final stages of the process (and my computer is probably more organized than ever been). After losing a couple of significant folders the last time we reformatted our computer, I am determined not to miss anything this time.

Flash
One neat thing about sorting through my old files is that I am reacquainted with old stuff that I've long since forgotten about. Things like this
stupid Flash project I did in computer graphics class. I think it's neat, but I feel I should disclaim it for all of you who actually know how to use Flash. That happens to be my first (and only) Flash creation - and the assignment wasn't exactly the greatest, either: 'design a button that does something when you push it.' Okay. I've found some other odd works, too, so perhaps I'll start adding some more content to the site later.

Quite coincidentally (really), I recently came across links to a couple of good flash movies on the internet that you might want to take a look at.

First things first, you should watch Icon's Story. It's a wonderful piece of work.

Star Dudes is also kind of interesting. Perfect if you've ever wanted to watch Star Wars, but you only have about five minutes. I suppose.

Back with more
Windows XP does not like to be reformatted. I went through a whole process during which the computer took about two hours to do the equivelant of nothing. I rebooted thinking my computer would be clean and ready to go - and nothing had changed.

Anyway, I had a bit of time to kill while my computer was pretending to reformat, so I played through this little flash game that I had bookmarked a while ago and just now revisited.
