It's Mee!
I almost feel like I need to apologize for that last post. When I start talking about the weather, you know I've got nothing.

So anyway... I guess you've all heard that it's snowing just about everywhere but here. Well, a lot of places, anyway. It's difficult to accept that, here, when you look out the window and see what appears to be a moderate summer day, but apparently it's pretty bad in some places.

I hope that clears up sometime soon.

Actually, I really do. More specifically, I hope conditions get better before my logic teacher's scheduled to fly back tomorrow. For the past week, the class has been taught by some other scatter-brained professor since our real teacher was out of town. He's been substituting for us now for three classes, so I am guessing that we're now about three classes behind. That's not much of an exaggeration, either. The first class with him, we managed to go over fully one homework problem, after which, nobody knew what the correct answer was. He'd keep going off on these weird tangents that had nothing to do with anything. After about forty minutes of this, you knew that whoever had asked about the problem was sincerely sorry for doing so. People around the room (the ones who were still awake) were muttering to themselves. "Gah! Just tell us the answer." After thoroughly confusing everyone, the class was over, so he only kept us another five minutes or so to let us know which homework problems to do. 'Thank goodness,' I thought, 'this guy's only going to be here another day.'

Ah, but that's where the snowstorm enters our tale. Apparently our teacher's flight was cancelled due to this snow that allegedly exists in other places, and we were graced, once again, with the presense of our substitute professor. Needless to say, none of us were particularly thrilled to see him. Most students kept their expression of discontent at least to a silent stare or just a soft snore. Others were slightly less subtle. One girl came in and nearly fell over backwards from the shock of seeing the substitute again. It was as if she'd actually bumped into some sort of invisible barrier, the way she immediately started back. "Oh no!" she exclaimed upon entry. Perfectly loud enough for the entire class to hear, but an apparently futile effort if she was attempting to communicate with the professor himself. You could actually see her trying to decide whether she should continue through the door or slip out and expend one of her sick days right then.

At least the professor seemed happy to be there. Every time someone came in the door, he'd reassure the student with a cheerful "It's mee!" Just like that; with the extra 'e' and everything. Our TA came in, saw him, and sat down. Same thing; the professor turned around and looked straight at her. "It's mee!" You could sense a wave of pride about him as he stood up straight and adjusted his coat collar. He was like a little kid showing off a fingerpainting, as if just standing in that room was some sort of lifetime accomplishment. The TA looked up briefly from organizing her papers. She smiled, kind of nodding at him, and replied in his same cheery tone. "I know!"

Heh. Is that really all it's been?

X-Men 2. Check out the
new trailer.

Warcraft 3. Beta sign-ups for the expansion continue through this Friday.

Dave Barry. There's an interview at Slashdot. Not exactly an earth-shattering thing, but I thought I'd point it out.

Gaming. Victor pointed me to this site. Apparently, gaming's not bad for you. In fact, it might be just the opposite.
