Welcome To My Home...
February 28, 2003What Dreams May Come I've been in an exceptionally good mood for a while now, so I was somewhat surprised when I woke up this morning completely scared out of my wits. I don't normally talk about dreams. They're personal, difficult to relate, and boring to read about. So I'll spare you the details; I tried writing out a nice dramatic summary but soon abandoned that idea. When I was a kid, I had all sorts of horrible nightmares. Not just of monsters, aliens, and the supernatural - although such dreams most definitely haunted many of my nights. But I would go to sleep and often be confronted with real world horrors. I remember several of these scenes in vivid detail. Kidnappings, murderers, fire, disaster. Given my relatively sheltered life, I don't even know how some of these thoughts managed to get into my head. I believe the doctor blamed it on an 'overactive imagination.' But I saw things so dreadfully frightful that they would likely shock many grown adults. To a five-year-old, such thoughts were beyond horrifying. Last night was the first time since then that a dream has ever even come close to having such a pronounced effect on me. I can't even remember when I was last so shaken. Certainly no horror movie has done so well. Thinking back, I'm not sure if I realized at the time that I was dreaming, as I usually do, now. But in any case, it was... unnerving, to say the least. Now that the shock has worn off, I'm intrigued by it. The oddest thing, though, is not the subject or fact of the dream, but the timing. I would have at least understood a little bit had this happened a few months ago during my fascination with the Plague. Or even if I was stressed about something. Goodness knows how screwed up I was while writing that Buddhism paper. But here I am, more content in life than I've been in a long while, and I'm being viciously attacked by my subconscious. It's just odd, is all. ![]()
February 28, 2003By Moonlight Lessons of the week: Water is evil. Moonlight is dark. Shipwreck by Moonlight. Head over to the art section to view my latest digital creation. I'm not as happy with it as I'd like to be considering the amount of time I put into it, and I would like to go back and rework the water eventually. But I still consider it to be a worthy effort. You can take a stroll through my progress to get a better idea. Bowling For Columbine. Watch it. Hit Song Science. Apparently the record industries have decided that the crap they feed us now has too much variety. That's right. But don't fear; they've found a way to fix it. With luck, every radio station will play only one song. That way, you can turn on the radio and know you'll be hearing the number one hit. But that's enough from me. Check out the frightening article for yourself. The scary thing is how proud all these record industry bone heads are about this thing. How, I ask, will releasing only the songs that fit a set formula "allow new sounds and styles to flourish?" Oh well. At least they're finally admitting that a lot of their songs are crap. Back To The Future. Universal has released repressed versions of the Back To The Future DVD's that fix some somewhat significant framing problems. If you're planning on buying the DVD's, you'll want to read this and make sure you're getting one of the repressed sets. Here's the important information: " The new packaging will have a
"V2" printed near the bottom of the screen format/bar code sticker. This will indicate that the set
contains the remastered versions of BTTF II and BTTF III. The same "V2" will also appear on the new
discs after the copyright language line."If you've already got the DVD's, you can send them back for replacements. ![]()
March 1, 2003I'm like a little kid again. All I ever do anymore is color other people's art. And we all thought I had outgrown coloring books. The original linart is by rosalin from the Megatokyo forums; I colored it at her request. ![]()
March 2, 2003Um... This might seem a little strange, but you need to update your FAQ on your halloween site for the last question... Yeah, I was bored, so shoot me : ) -Victor
March 2, 2003Bowling For Columbine I also would have to agree with Raymond about watching Bowling for Columbine. Although I did disagree with Michael Moore in some areas, even though I am liberal, it was a very good movie. I actually liked his book Stupid White Men a lot more and I have it in case someone wants to borrow it. It is really worth reading just to hear about what really happened in Florida. -Eric |
