Question of the Day
Guess what we did in political science today!

Right. So, we were going over the vocabulary terms from the chapter, and at one point, my teacher asked the class, in general, if anyone could define a specific concept. Although I don't recall at the moment the exact question, it was a relatively well-known term.

As you know, my teacher does everything in his power to encourage students to participate and interact in class. So, after a good half-minute of silence, he was forced to resort to calling on random students. Hunching over his role list, he began to run his finger down the line of possible victims.

Now, some good teachers get their classes to participate by building a genuine interest of the subject among the students. My political science teacher takes a different approach. He makes the class so unbearably boring that the students feel like they will go completely insane if they don't do something to keep themselves occupied. In unfortunate cases, this sometimes even means class participation.

So, just to keep things interesting, I briefly diverted attention from my current doodle and decided to answer. I gave a quick wave with my hand to signal this, and I began talking. Like I said, it was a simple concept, so I just gave a brief explanation off the top of my head.

My teacher had, by this point, looked back up from his roll call list, and he appeared to be staring off toward the corner of the room. In any case, he looked seriously confused. I pondered, briefly, what portion of my answer might be troubling him, and I reworded the whole idea into even simpler terms. He still looked horribly lost, so I once again simplified my answer and began explaining the concept.

His confusion only seemed to grow greater. Now he was sort of squinting as he seemed to glance randomly around the classroom and back down to his roll sheet. Finally, he responded, interrupting my last attempt to explain the term.

"Where's that coming from?" He said. "Who's talking?"

48 Hours
You have, by now, noticed my website's new patriotic theme. Since talk of war and such seems to be the predominant theme at the time, and especially within the last 48 hours, I felt compelled to at least acknowledge the situation. I don't want to discuss politics or my views on them here, because that's not what I made this site for; the patriotic banner symbolizes neither a support or contempt for America's course of actions, but rather a support for America and its people regardless of the situation.

What a rush...
Today's sketchbook entry is a real quicky, but I got it in on time.

A helpful tip
It is wise not to start drawing your shoes if there is even the slightest possibility that you might want to go somewhere before completing the task.

You should know that that's actually just the preliminary sketch for something much more grand. Yes. I can feel your anticipation.

Still going...
I've managed to stick with my daily sketchbook entries for over an entire week, now.

Today's painting took me longer than I had intended (as is usually the case), but I like how it turned out. I might even go back and finish it, sometime.
