Haunts: 2000 Planning and Set-up Planning and Set-up: Why Build a Haunt? The main reason I decide to do anything is because I think it could be fun, and this turned out to be a lot of fun. Part of the reason may have also been out of sheer boredom. Having spent the other eleven months of the year at my computer, I figured it was about time to really do something. I wanted to create something that I could look at and be proud of. (And of course that gave me an excuse to spend more time on the computer making this website.) Halloween has always been my favorite time of year. When I was younger, I loved the candy. That was, of course, at that age when candy was the only thing I had to worry about. Now, I simply love the idea of a day when people - whether proud, serious, outgoing, or shy - can forget that outer image that they've worked so hard to establish for themselves and let others see who they really are. It amazes me how free a person can feel simply by dressing in a costume, even if just for one day. The fact that the media is trying to scare people out of celebrating this incredible event with their unfounded stories of poisoned candy and heightened crime appalls me, and perhaps by building this haunt, I feel that I am helping keep the Halloween tradition alive in this age of paranoia. Then, of course, there's my unnatural fascination with death, but that doesn't sound nearly as eloquent as all that other stuff I said up there. Victor decided to join us because I volunteered his garage for the occasion.
